Dr. James Calder believes that in the demanding and sometimes challenging practice of hair restoration, the higher the degree of personal attention paid to each patient, the better the results and the higher the level of patient satisfaction.

Dr. Calder understands that hair loss often represents more than a physical loss. To many, it's perceived as a very personal affliction, not only affecting physical appearance, but also impacting self-confidence and self-esteem. That's why, believing that the successful treatment of the hair restoration patient begins with the initial consultation, he asks insightful questions and listens carefully to each patient's concerns and goals. The knowledge he gains during this process enables him to plan a hair restoration strategy that targets the restorative or corrective aspect of the hair loss problem in such a way as to best meet the patient's needs. Importantly, it's why Dr. Calder's patients receive quality doctor-patient time throughout the treatment period and beyond.

Dr. Calder's philosophy derives from his keen interest in hair loss, coupled with his commitment to providing better solutions to this common and often debilitating disorder. After researching the subject extensively, he joined the ISHRS and began a program of intense study that included professional coursework, a formal one-year preceptorship, and tutelage under Dr. Craig Ziering at the 2000 Live Surgery Workshop. Shortly after starting his own cosmetic practice, Dr. Calder was asked to join a prestigious bi-coastal hair restoration practice and was soon given a Medical Directorship.

Today, combining his skill and commitment, with the utilization of Dr. Ziering's innovative techniques such as Follicular Unit Transplantation and the experience of having performed several thousand procedures, Dr. Calder is a hair restoration surgeon who is fast gaining a reputation for quality work.  Dr. James Calder performs surgery exclusively at our Newport and Beverly Hills locations.
