Sneak Peek Transplant TechniqueThe greatest obstacle prospective hair transplant patients have to overcome in deciding to do a transplant is their fear of whether or not their result will look natural – whether or not it will be undetectable. The Sneak-Peek Technique eliminates this fear of the unknown and replaces it with an excitement about the procedure. With the Sneak-Peek Technique, the actual surgical procedure is similar to a traditional microscopic follicular unit transplantation procedure except the donor hair is not shaved short. It is left the same length as the hair would be in the zone being transplanted. Thus, this is a long hair transplant procedure. Since the hair grafts are left long, the surgical procedure is more intricate and labor-intensive in terms of preparing the donor area prior to removing the strip, actual graft preparation, recipient site incisions and actual placement of the individual grafts. During this procedure, a patient can actually see his/her hair transplant design taking shape in real time.
The long hair grafts give the patient an instantaneous preview of their final result at the conclusion of their surgery, relieving some of the anxiety of the standard waiting period (4-6 months) as the transplanted hair begins to grow out. The Sneak-Peek Technique also allows the surgeon to visualize his/her preoperative plan during the surgery and allows the patient to “interact” with the surgeon, so that together they can achieve that delicate balance between a patient’s preference for concentrated “density” over a small area or “coverage” over a larger area. Additionally, this procedure gives Dr. Ziering the ability to evaluate the quality and characteristics of the patient’s hair and how it influences the artistic design throughout the procedure. The long hairs will replace themselves after several weeks with new hair growth in the same pattern and design and then continue to grow in the traditional manner until your Ziering hair restoration as previewed, is permanent and complete.
